Introducing Kiera Jaedyn!!

She's here! She arrived very obediently right on her due date, with only fifteen minutes to spare (June 20th, 11:44pm.) I can't complain about the delivery. I was having contractions throughout the day but the actual labour only took an hour and a half. Fortunately my doctor was already at the hospital. I have described it as a surreal experience because it felt like it was over before it had even begun. It was a vastly different experience from my first labour. She is a beautiful little girl. She weighed 8lbs 9oz at birth and is about 9lbs now so she is eating well and growing fast. Hannah is very excited about her little sister but she is still processing the changes I think. Sorry to those of you that missed us at the hospital. We were not there for very long, only about 18 hours or so (the entire length of my labour with Hannah as a matter of fact.) The hospital had a record number of women on the waiting list to get in and we were getting no sleep there so we came home early.

We have been extra busy lately, aside from new baby stuff. Hannah got sick the day we brought her home from grandma's. She had a high fever and wouldn't eat or drink. We thought we might end up right back at the hospital but she made a fast recovery. We also made the decision to sell our house just before Kiera was born so now we are preparing for an open house on Saturday. Our renters gave us notice a couple of weeks ago so we figured we could spend the money to do some work downstairs and look for new renters, or we could take this opportunity to move into a townhouse which we have been thinking of doing for a while now. So all of a sudden we are anticipating another big life change. Yikes!

Congratulations to the g's. You won the baby poll with closest to the date and weight and guessing it was a girl!

Father's Day and Still Just the Three of Us

So we were hoping that Jason's Father's Day gift would be another child but no luck. Instead he got a card, socks and pants from Hannah.

A Dad and his boys... We had lunch with Dad W...a great time together. And later we had an impromptu pizza supper with Dad G. A full and fun day with our fathers.

I threw this last picture in because it is the only one we have of me, large and unfortunately NOT in charge!

"Swimmin' in the pool with Daddy!"

Hannah has started swimming lessons again, but this year she has been going with Daddy. She is loving it and talks about it all week. Alexandra and Dahlia also go with their daddies so it is a fun father-daughter evening. Hannah likes kicking and can do it all by herself on one of the boards. Unfortunately she also likes running on the side of the pool and hasn't quite gotten the consequences of running on wet tiles yet (eventhough she has slipped and fallen).

P.S. If you haven't left a comment on the Baby Poll yet, we want to know your thoughts so scroll down to find the Baby Poll post and take a guess.

Fences

Last weekend Jason took a few extra days off and got some stuff done around the house. We now have a complete fence around the side of our house! I was getting tired of chasing the kids around there and being paranoid about the huge drop off over the retaining wall to the driveway below. My dad came over to help and they got it done in a couple of days. I am sooo excited about it!

Hannah even helped putting the leftover brick pieces from our old fireplace in the hole to stabilize the posts. She also learned how to be a real construction worker -- notice the Tim Hortons coffee cup in her hand. She stopped periodically to pretend to take a drink while she supervised Daddy.

Jason also spent a day tearing up the garden which was a real mess. There was a square in the middle for grass clippings that had a whole lot of bees in it so most of the time was spent trying to dismantle it while not getting stung. He succeeded. He also rented a rotatiller to dig it up and we will probably plant grass in there.
You can kind of see from this picture from last year what our garden used to look like. It was incredibly overgrown. I was trying to see past the weeds to pick raspberries. They were not that good and full of bugs so we decided it wasn't worth the effort and we tore them out last year. Jason was still finding potatoes in there as he dug it up. We also had a rat living in there this year so I will not be sad to have that gone.

A Busy But Fun Weekend

Here, finally, is an update of our life the last couple of weeks. (I think I have finally figured out how to put pictures on my blog from the new camera.) Two weekends ago we had a fun but full couple of days. It started with a trip to the church garage sale. Hannah found some toys she fell in love with as well as this little chair. For the price we really couldn't pass them up. She also loves her new Winnie-the-Pooh book which Jason does all the voices for.

Then it was on to the annual Early Childhood Education Sports Day at Rotary Stadium. What a great idea. It is all free and there are lots of things for little kids to do. They even give you lunch. Pizza, samosas, granola bars and drink boxes! They have an ambulance there to tour and a fire truck which terrified Hannah. They're pretty neat from far away but up close they are loud and scary. She decided to pass up her opportunity to pull the big horn. She got to play soccer, basketball, relay races and she got a flower balloon with a bear on it. We decided against the face painting since it was nap time and not really worth the clean up.

Mother's Day

Saturday evening we celebrated Mother's Day with Jason's mom. We all went to the Mongolie Grill in Vancouver for an adventure. It was fun choosing our own food and trying to guess its weight. On Sunday morning I got flowers from my little girl. She was as eager to unwrap them as I was. Then Sunday evening we had my mom and dad over for a Greek barbeque with souvlaki, Greek potatoes, salad and pitas with tzatziki. We didn't get any pictures of the feast but we got pictures of fun with Papa in the backyard. Hannah even called her great grandma (aka G.G.) on the phone. What a great weekend of celebrating our mothers.

Baby Poll

So we just bought a new camera which comes with software that we have to install and learn how to use. So for now I have no pictures to post. Stay tuned and I will put on a few posts of Mother's day and other things. For now I thought it might be fun to do a baby poll. I have no prize to give away but you get the satisfaction of being right if you win. So leave a comment with your guess of the date, time, weight, sex. My due date is June 20th. (If it influences your guess at all, Hannah was a week overdue and weighed 9lbs.) Good Luck.
